La quinta parete

Wednesday 21 December 2022 saw the presentation of the final event of the training project La quinta parete (The fifth wall), devised by Romeo Castellucci, and conducted together with Silvia Rampelli, produced by Triennale in collaboration with the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture.
Fifteen participants and one dramaturg were selected through a public call for entries. The group, composed of professionals and students in the field of contemporary arts (visual arts, design, music, graphics, photography, theatre) participated in seventeen days of work, on the theme of The fifth wall:
The fifth wall of the stage is that of the spectator’s mind. From this simple consideration, the seventeen days of work arose, so that the group of participants could finally exclaim: ‘We make art here, not reproduction’.
In addition to the choreographer and philosopher Silvia Rampelli, Castellucci has involved external guests as guides for this project: Giovanni Agosti, art historian; Corrado Bologna, philologist; Francesco Raffaelli, photographer; Lucia Amara, philologist and theatre historian; Francesca Proia, choreographer; Giuseppe Ielasi, musician; Patrizio Esposito, photographer and writer; Gaetano Lettieri, theologian; Yasmine Hugonnet, choreographer; Piersandra Di Matteo, dramaturg; Simone Menegoi, curator.
The 17-day course concludes with a public opening, in which the participants of “La quinta parete” will propose their performative actions.
The project envisages the edition of a small publication that will be entrusted to the dramaturg Vanja Baltic and the graphic care of Patrizio Esposito, and that will bring together the reflections generated by the days of work.
