Archive Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio

The Archive of the Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio – conceived by Claudia Castellucci and recognized by the Italian State (MiBAC – Sovrintendenza dell’Emilia-Romagna) as an archive of “particularly important historical interest” – it is, since 2012, in a process of archival documentation under the supervision of two Greek academics, Eleni Papalexiou and Avra Xepapadakou, with the support of a team of archivists and specialist researchers.
The archive is preserved in Cesena, at the Teatro Comandini. The material, the accumulation of which started since the foundation of the company in 1981, includes scripts, designs, audiovisual recordings, press releases, programmes, press reviews, correspondence with critics and artists, manifests, posters, photographs and publications.
The work of conservation, classification, cataloguing, organization and digitization in accordance to international standards and the most recent technical and scientific specifications has been rendered possible through the research projects Archivio (University of Crete, 2012-2013), A.R.C.H. (Archival Research & Cultural Heritage, University of Athens, 2013-2015, funded by the European Union) and CREARCH (Creative European Archives as Innovative Cultural Hubs, University of the Peloponnese, 2018-2021, Framework “Creative Europe”) – coordinated by the academics Papalexiou and Xepapadakou under the aegis of the Societas.
Several Italian academic and cultural institutions have recently expressed their interest in collaborating with the Archive. These include the University of Bologna, the Cineteca Foundation of Bologna and the State Archives of Cesena.
